All Time Favorite

Upon moving to Florida, leaving 14 years of the New York State Court System behind (’90 to ’05), I threw myself fully into my photography, switching gears and changing careers.  Seeing that Florida didn’t offer much as far as good paying law enforcement jobs, I decided to move my freelance/hobby into the full time position and do photography as a job.  It was scary, but I have been happy ever since.

The wife had one thing to say: “It’s fine, as long as you can make money at it.”  So, I went back to school to learn all the things that I’d need to know to be competitive.  I went to The International Academy of Design and Technology, IADT, for short.  It was a great experience, and there I met a beautiful and wonderful young lady named Priscilla.  We met in English class, laughed and chatted, and soon I was aiming my camera at her.

The photo here is my all time favorite, and speaks to me volumes what I wish to create within my craft. Although her pretty face can not be seen, her presence and action breathes life and passion into the portrait.  I will admit that it was not planned and timed; after better than three hours of shooting, Priscilla had run out of ideas, poses and clothes, so I said “Just do something.”  So, she lowered her head and “shook her shimmy” in that wonderful dress, and in a click or two I had my signature portrait.

In photography, the best things in Life are spontaneous. (2011-0806)
